Reporter Joe Gordon in critical condition after Luling crash

Avalanche Journal staffer Joe Gordon remained in extremely critical condition at Brackenridge Hospital after his car left a ravine in Luling. Authorities say the wreck occurred about 70 miles south of Austin as witnesses noted the vehicle traveled several blocks before going off the ledge. Gordon, a four year reporter, lives on 69th Street in Barbhock and was visiting relatives.

Election Exempts Man From Army Campaign

Willam Batchelder, an Ohio House candidate, won election on November 5 and also received an early discharge from the Army. Batchelder, 25, had entered a four way primary before being called to active duty in April. His wife Alice and his father William Batchelder led his campaign while he served.

City Council Holds Closed Executive Session on Personnel
