Deluge drenches South Texas with as much as six inches of rain, causing stalled traffic and foggy conditions. Rain extended from the Rio Grande Valley to Abilene, with the Gulf Coast seeing the heaviest totals around 5.60 inches as cooler air spreads to the Panhandle and South Plains.
A masked bandit robbed Stalter Brothers Food Mart No 3 at 2017 Clovis Rd on Tuesday night taking about 90 dollars after signaling a gunlike threat. Officers traced footprints to a car near a trailer park east of the store and recovered a white handkerchief. Clerk Mrs Mil dred Arnold provided a partial description before the robber fled, leaving few details beyond a masked man and a color cue for investigators.
A two car crash at the state highway 54 and Marshall Howard Boulevard junction near Littlefield killed Don H. Brewster Chester Gray and his wife Edna Vernon and injured 84 year old Mrs Mattie Pritchard of Lubbock. Brewster and Mrs Gray died at Littlefield Hospital and Gray died about an hour later. The crash occurred at the intersection of a new bypass section opened Monday morning.
