High Rise project denied by city zoning board
The 12 story high rise proposed for 19th Street and College Avenue was rejected by the City Planning and Zoning Commission after a lengthy dispute. Two other projects at 16th Street and Quaker Avenue were tabled for study. Home owners opposed the Texas Tech housing plan citing traffic and congestion concerns while supporters claimed economic benefits. The commission’s denial was approved on a 5 to 2 vote with potential avenues for appeal.
