API Announces New Structure For Oil Industry Statistics
The American Petroleum Institute unveils a Statistics Coordination Committee and a Petroleum Statistics Liaison group to oversee an expanded statistical program. The coordinating committee includes three new standing committee chairs and two seasoned petroleum figures. The liaison group gathers representation from trade associations, professional societies, academia, and state and federal agencies. API pledges detailed statistics while protecting proprietary data. Travel promotion leader Robert E. Short urges longer, farther trips and greater travel mileage. API seeks highway signs on interstates three to five miles before interchanges and on exit ramps to aid motorists and operators. The institute aims for information visibility without clashing with highway beautification goals.
