Navy narrows Thresher search with 15 metal ring parts found

Portsmouth AP The Navy recovered 15 small boxes of metal rings from the ocean floor near the Thresher wreck site. The parts, common to many ships, were found near the last known position of the sunken submarine which sank April 10 about 220 miles off Boston with 129 lives lost. Captain Frank A. Andrews led the search and attended a two day conference at Woods Hole with the technical advisory group from the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations to report progress and future plans.
