Jewelry store heist in Lubbock nets up to twenty thousand
Lubbock police investigate a 10:30 a.m. daylight robbery at Pigg Brothers Shamrock Jewelry Store. Three black men escaped with cash and jewels worth between five and twenty thousand dollars. Five suspects were arrested briefly in the 1100 block of Avenue R before being cleared by a lineup. Mrs Mixon, the lone attendant, described the robbers as wearing dark trousers and speaking fluent English. The case recalls a prior House of Alexander holdup at 2001 Broad Way in April 1971.
