Severe weather swept the South Plains with large hail in eastern Hockley County and heavy rain in West Lubbock. A San Angelo baseball game was interrupted when lightning killed David Sanchez, 33, of Miles. Forecasts warn of continued severe storms through Wednesday with a fifty percent chance of thunderstorms.

While thousands of documents were destroyed in burn bags, the commission announced next year’s 17 fellows will include eight women, the most ever, plus an Oriental male, amid ongoing litigation.
