Devonian oil strike completed in southeast Gaines county
McMoRan Exploration Co completed a Devonian discovery at No 1 Chilton wildcat eleven miles northwest of Patricia in southeast Gaines County drilling to 12 325 feet. The well produced 401 2 barrels of 99 gravity oil plus 5 47 barrels of water in 24 hours with a gas oil ratio of 213 1 and was stimulated with 400 gallons of acid. It lies near the Chilton Devonian field and 12400 feet from a dry hole.
