A 39 year old West Memphis truck driver was jailed after attempting to sell a $100,000 load of new air conditioners to an undercover officer and an FBI agent. The arrest followed a stakeout on Avenue A prompted by a local businessman reporting the approach. The driver, employed by a California trucking company, is held on possible interstate theft charges.
The first artificial ankle joint replacement was performed Monday at University Hospital by an orthopedic surgeon in Bellevue Washington. The procedure used a custom made device with high density polyethylene and metal alloy components. Doctors note it aims to eliminate pain restore motion and function in a degenerative ankle joint.
