Ninety Nine Suspects Named In Indictments
Ninety nine persons were named Friday in 108 indictments returned by a 140th District Court Grand Jury empaneled Monday. The grand jury declined to indict only one person in the 109 cases presented by District Attorney Blair Cherry's staff. Massive drug raids in the city Wednesday and Thursday accounted for the majority of the cases.
Indictments Returned in Local Drug and Robbery Cases
Indictments include 62 true bills against alleged drug violators. A murder with malice charge was filed May 6 against Chris Munoz, 35, of 701 28th St for shooting Roy Valdez, 29, in a Lubbock market. Virgil Le Merriweather and John L Balden faced robbery and related counts for the April 28 House of Alexander theft.
