Senate jurists committee backs repealing the 114 year old Texas helmet requirement despite a possible loss of 26 million dollars in federal highway funds. Senator Creighton hag says helmets cause neck injuries and distraction as others note few states keep such laws.

Riots at Southern University Stir Baton Rouge Prepares Guards

About 1,000 students rioted on the Louisiana campus brandishing torches and fire bombs. Police used tear gas and shotgun blasts as Gov. McKeithen mobilized 600 National Guard troops near Baton Rouge. Thirteen students and two deputies were hospitalized. two students required surgery for shotgun pellets.

Governor hints at veto and two year spending plan

Center Records Two Tremors In Separate Regions
