Area Youth Appointed to Air Force Academy
Brownfield High School senior Mike Paddock, son of Merle and Mrs Paddock, Rt. 3, Brownfield, has been notified of his appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. U S Rep George Mahon sent the information. Paddock ranks in the top five percent of his class with straight A grades and is active in band choir National Honor Society and is a former varsity football player. He attends Brownfield Baptist Church and the Waylon Parker chapter of DeMolay.

DWI Verdict Sets Punishment for Moyers in County Case
A jury found Lonnie Dowl Moyers guilty of driving while intoxicated in County Court-at-Law No 1. Judge Edwin H Boedeker set a $150 fine and 30 days in jail after Moyers elected the judge to determine punishment. Scientists Report Finding How Cells Repel Viruses
