During an all day meeting the council approved sale of revenue bonds to fund the project and assumed $20 000 in bills for 62 homesteaders. They set April 24 for a public hearing on a motion picture and stage classification ordinance and postponed final disposal between two garbage disposal systems.
The Texas Senate passed a historic two year general revenue bill totaling 5.77 billion dollars by a 31 to 0 vote. Senator A.M. Aikin Jr. of Paris led the effort praising the bill as the best he has seen. The measure increases spending beyond 1 billion from general revenue for the first time and sets a conference to reconcile with the House version by April 15. Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes predicted May completion.
