Venezuelan DC9 Crash Kills 150 Incidents In Caracas Neighborhood

A Vene zuelan VIASA DC9 crashed shortly after takeoff from Maracaibo killing about 150. All 84 on board died, with 66 on the ground. Among the dead were 47 Americans and several Venezuelan baseball figures. The jet disintegrated in La Trinidad as homes were struck and witnesses described severe damage.

Marines clash in DMZ as air and ground actions escalate

In the DMZ Sunday US Marines clashed with North Vietnamese troops marking the first fighting in four months. US forces killed enemy soldiers south of Saigon and shelled more bases overnight while five American helicopters were shot down in the Delta region. Burglary Suspects Nabbed After Food Company Break-In

A rolling earthquake struck the San Bernardino area Sunday night with no serious damage reported. Dozens of residents said they felt the temblor which lasted about a half minute.

Direct links to Moscow hot line expanded this week

The Washington Moscow direct private line teletype circuits linked two diplomatic posts will run 24 hours via submarine cable and land lines.
