Blu Mundy, a Texas Tech liberal arts freshman, lives with an uncommon name that wows people and starts conversations. Her Texas parents J G Mundy recall reactions from strangers who often need a driver’s license to believe the name. She enjoys the icebreaker and says she would not change it for marriage unless she found a man named Mundy too.
The Associated Press reports cooling showers and heavy thunderstorms drenched much of Texas. Houston saw minor roof damage from winds, downtown received 1.39 inches while the airport measured .55 inches, and South Houston tallied about 2 inches. Regions from Alvarado to Jewett and from Hamilton to Waco faced 25 mile wide storm bands with isolated cells near Jacksboro.

Rep Miller notes vacation rentals could be included if they cater to transients while observers question Mrs Murphy’s role in the debate.
28 year old Lubbock man Donnie Tew was charged with murder after a shotgun slaying of James Louis Shobert at a residence on 2610 37th Street. Shobert died at West Texas Hospital after being shot at about 8 15 am last Thursday. A witness, Janice Louise Chapman, 21, posted bond as a material witness. Shobert survived by his parents and two brothers with services set for Friday at the First Four Square Gospel Church.
Texans await rate figures as the State Board of Insurance reviews auto insurance increases tied to higher liability minimums. New bodily injury lability and collision deductibles push up costs. liability minimum rises to 10 000 20 000 while property damage stays at 5 000. Board will decide within a week to 10 days.
Da vid Anaker aged 28, raised in Birmingham orphanage after being abandoned at age two in 1936, traced his mother Mrs. Dick Shreeve of Medford Oregon. He learned her location via her grandfather and a real estate dealer clue, spoke by phone in Mobile and finally found his mother who regretted leaving him and his brother but lacked funds to feed them.
Kenneth May reports Thomas H. Bell faced arguments tying Kuykendall Investment Co. Lubbock Machine and Supply Inc. and Billie Sol Estes to one loan package. KIC claims 47 199 still owed on two notes for anhydrous ammonia tanks. Witnesses said tanks numbered about 1700. Trial paused as Lubbock Machine president T A Rogers testified.
The report notes Rogers testimony that Estes claimed about 3.5 million dollars in fertilizer tanks purchased and depreciated for tax purposes to aid selling to customers and associates. Testimony points to a proposed scheme to use Lubbock Machine to move the tanks.
President Kennedy drew mass welcomes in Berlin and Dublin during a three day visit. Crowds exceeded a million in Berlin while Ireland saw thunderous cheers and a moving welcome home. He told students at Berlin Free University that Winds of change sweep the East and West, urging reforms across Poland Romania and the Soviet Union. See KENNEDY Page 12.
One man, William Joseph Williams, 42, of Ballinger, died after a car plunged from an embankment on U S Highway 84 near the bypass five miles south of here. His wife Hazel Jenkins Williams, 40, remained in critical condition after emergency surgery and was transferred for further care. Witnesses included Williams parents of Post.
