Young gunmen rob Walt's Service Station in late night hold up
Two youths between 17 and 19 enter Walt's Service Station on 34th Street and Ave L and take about 100 dollars. Attendant Homer Sullivan, 51, reports a smaller second youth and describes the robbers as departing around 10:20 p.m. The haul includes about 30 in change and a 5 bill given to Sullivan, who says he has been out of work for three months. Police say the robbery occurred near closing time, with return to normal after.

A 23 year old Latin American man Jose Sanchez was shot in the face near 1707 Ave E shortly after 10 PM Thursday. He was taken to Methodist Hospital by Rix Funeral Home ambulance. Detectives arrested three men and recovered a shotgun at the Anglo residence. A witness identified the assailants as occupants of a car that stopped on Avenue E.
