Labor dispute testimony cites Texas Rangers in union drive case
Deputy Raul Penn testified in a federal suit filed by the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee AFL-CIO claiming a conspiracy by Starr County officers and officials to disrupt the union drive in the lower Rio Grande Valley. Penn said he arrested two union leaders for unlawful assembly and distributed 400 copies of La Verdad. Witnesses included Starr County officials and railroad agents.
