Bandit Steals $46,794 From Armored Car in Amarillo

A thief manipulated a self locking door on an Amarillo armored car around 4 45 p m Wednesday and fled with a bank bag containing 46 794 88, most in cash. The bag marked Ted Lokey Tire Co Inc No 9 5 Amarillo National Bank was taken while the truck was unattended. Drivers said they closed the doors for a moment and returned to see the thief run away with the bag. Police searched a freight train for a suspect described as a man seen boarding the train after the theft.
