Mission Church of Mescalero Apache Reservation Story
The Mescalero Apache Reservation hosts a mission church born from Father Albert W. Browns dream and a small group of Indians refugee priests and supporters. Built after World War II the effort spanned seven years with help from a California stone cutter and a British flying ace. The stone church sits atop a hill along U S 70, featuring thick sandstone walls large windows and Indian carved doors reflecting local heritage.
