A Bomarc anti-aircraft missile with an atomic tip burned at McGuire AFB New Jersey on Tuesday triggering momentary radiation alarm. The image shows the missile lifting from its launch pad while a map at right marks the missile site guarding East Coast cities.
The Bomarc missile shelter at McGuire AFB New Jersey caught fire, releasing a small amount of radioactive material. The Air Force said there is no radiation danger to the public and no casualties among 200 to 250 personnel, though evacuation plans and area precautions were undertaken.
Dickens County voters produced a tie for sheriff with James A. Bridge and Donald D. Tullis each winning 792 ballots.
