Taos Indians to receive land title under land bill

A House Interior Subcommittee approved a bill to grant title to about 48 000 acres in New Mexico for the Taos Indians. The measure allows grazing permits in the area to be relinquished or transferred by agreement, without creating vested rights, and preserves downstream water rights from Taos Pueblo.
