Miss Darla Ahnise Varnell and Alfred Hugh Summers were married at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with campus minister Rev. Allen Smith officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Varnell, wore a white empire gown with embroidered details and carried daisies and English ivy. Attendants included Marian Morris, Elaine Bonner, and Mrs. Robert E. Barton. best man Jack Johnson, groomsmen Gregg Paris and Fredrick Felder, with ushers Bob Barton, Wiley Johnson, Bobby Gillum, and Wayne Varnell. A reception followed at the bride’s parents’ home. The couple will reside in Houston.
