FTC orders Sperry & Hutchinson to drop bonus stamp rule
The FTC ruled Sperry & Hutchinson Co. restrained trade in its 300 million dollar trading stamp business by forcing retailers to issue one stamp per 10 cents. It barred minimum and fixed ratio policies while allowing the company to set a floor. The decision, 3-1, may be appealed. Commissioner Jones dissented arguing no ratio should be fixed.
