Potato Harvest Nears In Lubbock County Texas

Potato yield in Lubbock County is forecast to be 15 to 20 percent lower with 600 to 700 carloads plus truck shipments likely this week. Acreage is about 800 acres down from last year’s 950 to 1,000. irrigation, late crop, and transport plans affect the harvest. The 20 cent price drop lowers the ceiling from 3.05 to 2.85 per 100 pounds through August.

100 Million for Italian Relief From Lend-Lease Funds

The Foreign Economic Administration announced a $100,000,000 lend-lease grant to the Army for rehabilitation in Italy. Funds cover temporary repairs in electric power, transportation, medicine, and disease prevention. The allocation comes from lend-lease but is not part of the U.S. lend-lease program since Italy is not on the eligible list.

Overtons Expected To Arrive Here Today

Dr and Mrs M C Overton of 2523 Twenty first were injured when their car rolled over a Colorado embankment. They are to be flown to Lubbock General Hospital from Albuquerque by ambulance plane, weather permitting. Their condition was listed as satisfactory. Their two sons and two daughters were with them in Raton Pass.

Milwaukee July 21 Pi Henry L Nunn and his Nunn Bush shoe company celebrate ten years of a worker shared profit system. The program ties pay to skill and output, guarantees minimum hours, and has kept payrolls strong with 595 co producers never laid off. About 70 percent of the 900 employees earned roughly 2600 to 2700 dollars annually.
