Supreme Court Reverses Houston Auto Damage Award
The Texas Supreme Court reversed a Harris County ruling that fined Houston $862,500 for water damage to 1,620 Renault and Peugeot vehicles stored at Clinton Park area. 14.25 inches of rain in 1960 caused the loss, and the city was deemed not negligent. The court also ordered a new trial in a Hansford County landowner’s case against a wheatcutter after a fire attributed to a truck destroyed a 186 acre field in 1965.
