Joint Session Set for Lubbock Tax Hearings Pace Prods On

Tax hearings on Lubbock 1965 66 assessments continued through a second day at City Hall. Chairman Ray Diekemper called a joint meeting for Saturday with an advisory panel led by E W Williams. The panel advised lower figures to Harvey Austin and the board. Over 1 600 residents have signed up for hearings of about 50 000 notices. A subdivision was cut slightly due to lack of city services. Panhandle South Plains Fair to Feature Rocket Belt Display

The 48th Panhandle South Plains Fair catalog announces a Bell Aerosystems Rocket Belt flight three times daily over Sept. 27 to Oct. 2. Other highlights include Holiday on Ice, junior parachute jumps by Army recruiters, and space and military exhibits with a six night entertainment lineup and reserved seating tickets from 2 to 3.50 dollars. Tulia School Fire Destroys Central Ward Building

A Tulia fire gutted the Central Ward School housing nearly 400 fourth and fifth graders. Fire officials suspect unclear cause, noting wind shifts may have saved nearby structures.
