Bipartisan Victory as House Approves JFK Foreign Aid Plan

Pole usage study urged as merger talks fade

A two year dispute over a Lubbock power merger ended with the Utility Advisory Board advising City Commission to drop a Kansas City firm and to study single pole usage for Lubbock Power and Light and Southwestern Public Service and Southwestern Bell Telephone. City OKs widening of Avenue Q in two segments

Lubbock city commissioners approved the first step toward widening Avenue Q from 3rd Street to 22nd Street and from 50th Street to near the Tohoka traffic circle. Work will include medians and left turn lanes within the existing right of way and may take up to two years to complete.
