Lubbock Women's Club elects Roundtable chair amid budget approval
The club met at its 2020 Broadway clubhouse with Mrs. Tracy Gage presiding. Mrs. Warren K. Dulin was elected Roundtable chairman after Mrs. Mark Williams resigned. Steven Warren reported on the 1968-69 budget which was approved. September events include a coffee on Sept. 4 and a noon orientation luncheon Sept. 6. A joint fall luncheon is set for Sept. 9 and the next board meeting is Aug. 12. A luncheon at the Country Club honors Miss Susan Davis, bride-elect of Rodney Trant, as the couple plans an August wedding.

Police Chief Honored By Explorers
About 26 youths ages 14 to 18 formed Explorer Boy Scout Post 504 sponsored by the Lubbock Police Department. They presented their charter to Police Chief J. T. Alley, who urged growth into good citizens and potential future police officers. The group, meeting at Smylie Wilson Junior High, elected officers Steve Dowell president Rick Bingham vice president Archie Whitacre treasurer and organized a rest stop on U S 84 south of Lubbock with volunteers from both police and safety departments.
