Soviet envoy expelled over espionage plot in Washington

Gennadiy G Sevastyanov, a Soviet attaché, was ordered to leave the United States after US officials accused him of trying to coerce a Russian born US government employee to spy for the Kremlin. The FBI documented meetings in Arlington and noted the plot extended to the man's brother.

Pickup overturns kill two near Jones town

A pickup rollover northwest of Austin killed Lord Dale Smothers 28 and Curtis Montgomery 60. Joe Noble 49 was in fair condition at Brackenridge Hospital. Investigating highway patrol said the crash occurred after 1 p.m on FM 1 near Jones town. Smothers worked for Furr's Inc in Lubbock.

Mary A. Boyle, secretary to Bernard Baruch for about six decades, missed the $140,000 Irish Sweepstakes top prize when the winning Ragusa ticket vanished. Storms soak Central Texas. soldier killed in crash

Soaking rains drenched Temple and surrounding areas with over three inches in three hours. A Ft Hood soldier, James W.
