Longet Case Expert Testimony on Greased Pistol
An expert testified the pistol that killed Vladimir Sabich was packed with stiff grease and could fire in the hand of Claudine Longet. He said the safety catch failed and Longet might not have pulled the trigger for discharge. The defense rested and final arguments were set for the next day.

Casket Theft Suspects Captured After Police Chase
Two juvenile suspects aged 14 and 15 fled in a truck loaded with caskets after leaving the Winnebago Mental Health Center Oshkosh. They led police on a chase from a weigh station on U.S. 41 to Wisconsin 29 near Howard before being taken into custody. Authorities said the truck was reported stolen in Milwaukee.

Free showers offered at Ontonagon High School
Ontonagon Michigan residents in the 6000-person district can book free showers at Ontonagon Area High School after school and on weekends because wells are dry and water is frozen. Principal Cliff Koivisto announced the service for the upcoming week.

Ex Lubbockite Drew Six-Year Burglary Sentence
Fernando Olivas 29, formerly of Lubbock now in Midland, received a six year term in 140th District Court after a jury found him guilty of a July 10 1976 burglary. He stole a television and clothing from Larry Grant’s apartment at 124 Temple Ave and had been spotted with the TV in his car. In a separate case Judge Shaver declared a hung jury on L B Moore 30 of Slaton accused of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
