A Pan American Petroleum No 7 Big Eddy wildcat 22 miles northeast of Carlsbad in Eddy County flowed gas at surface in eight minutes from 11 377 to 11 376 feet and oil after two hours. It yielded 28 barrels of 50.2 gravity oil, 28 barrels recovered with no water, and gas at 15 million cu ft per day. Initial bottomhole pressure 5 784 psi, final shutin 5 680 psi. The apparent discovery sits four miles southwest of the No 1 Big Eddy Wolfcamp gas discovery and one mile northwest of a lone Bone Spring producer.
