Grocery Hit for $50 Suspect Arrested in Armed Robbery
The New Year’s first armed robbery in Lubbock occurred at Seven-Eleven Food Store No. 31 on Memphis Avenue as a lone robber took about $50. Police arrested the suspect and two accomplices within about 45 minutes. Store manager Mrs. Betty James described a brown-haired youth five feet tall, who demanded cash with a small pistol. A palm-sized .32 caliber pistol was later found near a nearby bowling alley.
