In Wiltshire Ohio on October 10 1970 six year old Matt Winkler was bitten by a rabid bat. His parents Nick and Verna rushed him for treatment hoping to avoid rabies shots. The bat was sent to Columbus for testing and on October 14 the illness was confirmed.
