Four Children Burn To Death In Farm Tragedy Near College Ave
Four young children of a Mexican migrant family died in a late night fire that swept their four room tenant farm home one mile south and one mile west of College Avenue gin. Parents Leno and Mrs Cantu were badly burned and hospitalized in Lubbock Memorial Hospital with third degree burns. The blaze began around midnight and was fought by sheriff's deputies and fire crews at 2:20 a.m. Two other adults in the house escaped with minor injuries.

Former Librarian Elizabeth West Dies in Pensacola
Elizabeth Howard West 74 longtime Librarian at Texas Tech and former Library of Congress assistant died in her sleep Saturday at her sister's Pensacola home. Funeral at First Presbyterian Church Pensacola at 3 p m burial in the local cemetery. She headed a Texas state department in 1925 and retired in 1942 later researching Florida and Texas history. Survived by two Pensacola sisters Mrs Reese and Miss Virginia West.
