Permian Basin Railway faces ICC license denial

A 13 month ICC inquiry led examiner Edmund T. Fritz to recommend denying Permian Basin Railway Co. a license to operate. Company leaders, including president James Roberts, vowed to review the decision and may file exceptions within 30 days. The proposed 78 mile line would link Seminole Andrews Odessa and Seagraves to Texas & Pacific and Santa Fe rails to move oilfield equipment and petroleum.

One Death Attributed To Storms Across Quanah Area

Storms across the Quanah area produced hail, high winds, and funnel clouds. Quanah police reported three funnel clouds and at least one death tied to the weather. Tornado touched ground in Duncan Oklahoma while other states faced heavy snow and fog related hazards.

Saturday Closings Set By Three City Banks In Lubbock

Several Lubbock banks vote to close on Saturdays starting March 5. Citizens National American State and First National will halt Saturday hours while Plains National and Lubbock National plan to discuss the change at upcoming meetings. Security National offered no announcement. Weekday hours remain 9 am to 2 pm with 8 pm to 9 pm access for commercial customers on Saturdays.

School Bus Crash Injures 18 on Excursion to Folsom Dam

A school bus carrying 63 passengers struck a car broadside and crashed into a road bank in Folsom California. Sixteen children and two adults were injured with injuries ranging from light to major. several children lost teeth. The bus carried fifth graders and chaperones heading to Folsom Dam.
