Five 19 year old student nurses from Philadelphia arrived for a six day Florida vacation and asked to sleep in the city jail to save hotel costs. The West Palm Beach Junior Chamber of Commerce arranged a room in the jail and the group was treated as city guests. Oil Well Fire Near Andrews Causes $100 000 Loss
An oil service unit with a large telescoping derrick burned southwest of Andrews on Wednesday, with losses estimated at 100000 dollars. The blaze started when underground gas surfaced and ignited from engine exhausts while the unit was pulling tubing. Firefighters ran out of water but claimed the fire on the service unit, while the well itself suffered only minor damage.
