Texas Lawmakers Prepare for New statewide Taxes
A Texas AP survey of 181 senators and representatives shows most lawmakers expect a state tax increase at the 60th Legislature start in January. Many favor raising the sales tax or removing exemptions while others propose new taxes on gasoline beer and liquor or a corporate profits tax with a parimutuel horse racing option.
