Christmas Eve this year falls on a Monday making the week relatively calm for most Texans. Last minute shopping will keep some stores busy as they prepare for holiday hours, with blue laws reducing bustle on Christmas Eve itself.
In Jacksonville Florida a divorce court hearing ended in a gun battle. A woman was killed and the husband was wounded and charged with murder under Florida law holding felons responsible for deaths during the crime. Investigators were unsure where the fatal shot came from during the hallway incident.
A weather report notes a zero chance of precipitation this weekend with sunshine statewide. Officials say Texas will remain under a high pressure ridge with mostly clear skies and temperatures near 90 percent sunshine today and Friday, despite a cold front moving through.
