Slugging and Robbery Hit Hale Stores On Plainview and Lubbock
A Plainview meat company manager Charles Thomason was slugged and robbed of about $600 early Saturday as two separate hold ups occurred on the South Plains. A later Lubbock incident on 34th Street involved a holdup but no injuries reported. both events appear unrelated. Thomason was hospitalized with a head injury after being struck from behind near his office.

Dog Safe Boys Drown In Icy Lake

Bandits Rob Conoco Station in Knoxville Avenue
A Conoco service station at 34th Street and Knoxville Avenue was robbed of about 75 dollars Saturday night. Two young men, about 19 and 20, entered on foot, asked to use the restroom, then brandished a pistol and ordered the register opened. The new owners had taken over Friday. the robbery occurred around 9 40 p.m. with the men fleeing north on Knoxville Avenue. The attendant, Carl Dupler, notified police immediately. Investigation ongoing.
