President-elect Nixon spent hours with Ambassador Shriver in New York where Shriver refused to confirm cabinet talks. Herbert Klein said a cabinet is nearly filled with Democrats and other voices. Klein cited unity as a first goal and planned outreach to the Negro community and press groups.
Three bandits stopped a Greyhound bus on Interstate 80 near Iowa City and robbed 25 passengers of about $2,000 in cash and valuables. They gassed the vehicle, punctured tires, and fled in a nearby automobile while a guard watched from outside. The driver redirected the group to another coach in Town City for the continuation of the trip.

Allied units clashed with entrenched Communist forces near Da Nang in one of the fiercest battles since the North Vietnam bombing halt. More than 80 enemy soldiers died, at least 16 Marines killed, with about 700 communists reported dead in the operation and heavy fighting around the Dodge Cite position.
Lynn Wyatt 20 of New Home died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday east of Lakeview on FM 211 when his car struck a truck. The driver Louis Monroe Whitney of Lubbock was uninjured. Wyatt, a West Texas State University sophomore, is survived by his parents a sister a brother and grandparents. Services set for Monday at New Home Baptist Church with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park Lubbock under White Funeral Home Tahoka.
