The Algerita Hotel a South Plains landmark built in 1909 by C. W. Post and later owned by Mr. and Mrs. George Tracy was gutted by fire Monday night. The second floor was destroyed while the first floor suffered smoke and water damage. The roof collapsed as flames were brought under control hours later. no injuries were reported and most occupants had evacuated.
