Three Die In Head-On Wreck Near Lub bock Labor Day
Three people were killed and nine injured in a late Friday night collision on the Slaton Highway near Lubbock involving a car and a transport truck. Among the dead were Wille Spears Jr. 78 and Gilmer Williams 60, both from Caddo Mills. Ben Milam Snudduth Jr. 21, of Lubbock, was critically injured. Aaron Williams, 10, sustained minor injuries. The families were en route to Levelland for Labor Day when the crash occurred in dawn light.

First bale of Lubbock County cotton brings $1.75 per lb
Lubbock County hosts the first 1952 bale auction with 522 pounds sold for $813.50 plus cash premiums. Buyer Knott of Carlisle Community paid $1,701.50 total after bids rose 25 cents per pound. Auctioneer Kenneth Bozeman declared sale as Knott Kendall, the bidder, finally won. Mrs. G. A. Taylor Sr. received $25 of the purchase price though her bale was ultimately ineligible.

Dallas Warehouse Blaze Causes Major Damage
A large fire swept a Dallas rivers and Merchants Compress & Warehouse destroying part of the facility. Three firefighters were seriously injured while fighting the blaze. A watchman reported the incident at 6 50 p m as fire trucks from several units battled the flames. A warehouse tray stored under cover was saved and investigators pursued the cause.
