Isolated Showers Hit Part Of Area
Thunderstorms swept through North and Central Texas from Oklahoma and extended along the Texas New Mexico line Friday night from the Panhandle to the Edwards Plateau. A Navy F8U Crusader crashed near Odessa, pilot Lt. John Louns bury parachuted to safety, four people died in a Fort Sill crash, and two Fort Worth men escaped injury in a separate landing near Bells. Heavy rain, hail, and high water caused impassable streets in Odessa and 2.25 inches of rain in the Odessa business district. Scattered showers and moisture remain over the South Plains with a stationary front lingering over the Panhandle. Earth tremors were felt in Concepcion Province, Chile.

Hobbs Man and Wife Slain in Domestic Tragedy
In Hobbs a 58 year old man Robbie Clifton Shannon and his 53 year old estranged wife Nettie Lola Shannon were killed Friday in what authorities describe as a domestic quarrel. The shooting occurred at a trailer home as the two sons Billy and Tommy, ages 6 and 9, witnessed the events. Undersheriff Bruce McCallum said Shannon first failed to enter, then returned with clothing and opened the door as Mrs. Shannon tried to lock it again. The son reported a struggle during which Shannon drew a .22 pistol and fired. Mrs. Shannon collapsed at the doorway while the older boy sought help and the younger saw Shannon.
