Woman buried beneath asphalt after Lamesa collision tragedy

A Blooming Grove Texas woman, Ruby Dozier, 48, lay buried under asphalt for over 30 minutes after a two car crash three miles south of Lamesa. Her husband, Ivan Lester Dozier, was injured. the dump truck driver Buddy A. Williams is identified. Dozier died at Medical Arts Hospital and services await family in Blooming Grove.

Prisoners Stage Sitdown Amid Record Heat Across Nation

In a sweltering nationwide day, 1200 inmates at a state prison sat down after heatwaves pushed temperatures into the 90s. Atlas ICBM Near Combat Readiness With New Test Flight

The Atlas intercontinental ballistic missile, in a five flight sequence, nears combat readiness after a successful launch from Cape Canaveral. A Pentagon official said the ocean-spanning weapon is now at hand as troops prep for manned operation and plans for polar orbiting satellites expand SAC communications. Students Die After Rescue Reach On Profile Mountain

Two inexperienced climbers Fred Whipple Jr. and Sidney Crouch perished on a ledge half way up a nearly vertical cliff on Profile Mountain in the White Mountains. Rescuers reached them within 25 feet as near freezing rain and night cold sapped their strength after more than 24 hours trapped. Whipple, 20, Brown University sophomore, of Gales Ferry Conn, and Crouch, 21, a student at Export Bible Institute in Comn, were criticised for relying on books rather than experience.

Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev spent time at a Black Sea resort confering with leaders of Communist states including Red China as prep for his planned talks with President Eisenhower next month. Six Injured In Building Mishap In Oakland

Six workers were injured Monday in a construction accident at a Westcott company site in Oakland California. The incident involved a concrete form system used to pour basement walls. Police said the workers were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Two Youths Held In Bombing At Little Rock Hall High

A small home made bomb exploded outside Hall High School in Little Rock Monday night. Two white youths were taken into custody for investigation. a third youth was being sought. No damage occurred to the building. Three Negro girls have attended Hall since Aug. 12.

Clerk Faces Funds Misappropriation Charges

Mrs. Peggy Richardson, 32, a clerk for the Texas Game and Fish Commission in San Antonio, was charged with misappropriation of public funds on Monday over hunting and fishing license fees. Justice of the peace set a $1,000 bond, and she returned to San Antonio to post it.

Herter Disturbed by Laos Offensive Threat

Secretary of State Christian Herter told congressional foreign policy leaders he was very disturbed by the Communist military advance in Laos and warned it could push toward United Nations action. Coed Slain in Apparent Apartment Intruder Case

Los Angeles police traced the Sunday night stabbing of Linda Edna Martin, 21, at her fiancé’s apartment to an intruder she reportedly knew. Neighbors heard a five minute argument before screams and breaking glass. the killer remains unidentified. Kinzie, 27, an art student in the flat, told police he was at a laundromat with friends at 1:25 a.m. confirming his alibi. The University of Southern California graduate student and accomplished pianist harpist was married once, with an annulment last year.

Women Blamed in Sacking of Sea Captain After 30 Years

A Cunard liner veteran captain, Fame Armstrong, was fired after 30 years for allegedly paying excessive attention to women passengers at the captain's table. A line spokesman confirmed the dismissal occurred two months ago following tensions between Armstrong and others.
