A mail pouch with 142000 dollars in various bills disappeared on a 100 mile Erie Railroad run from Liberty to Hoboken. Bank president Joseph Fersch said the pouch was to be insured by Federal Reserve, with Post Office coverage up to 10000. Postal inspector McCarthy led a five man probe.
