HITS HIGHLINE Shock Fatal To Lineman
A 23-year-old apprentice lineman Rene Elkins of Plainview was electrocuted while installing a 4 160 volt highline on an Hart residence pole. Fellow worker Doyle Gibson performed mouth to mouth and artificial respiration for 45 minutes before a doctor arrived. Elkins, a two year Southwestern Public Service employee, died after 40 minutes of revival attempts. Funeral plans are with Wood Dunning Funeral Home. His wife is hospitalized for shock and he leaves two children.
