Airman killed as two T33 jets collide in Texas

A collision of two T33 jet trainer planes near Cotulla Texas killed one airman and wounded two others from Laredo Air Force Base. The crash happened about 25 miles southeast of Cotulla during training exercises on a Tuesday. The incident prompted an investigation and temporary halt to operations at the base.

1200 Fight To Check California Forest Fires

More than 1200 men battled Tuesday night to check a dozen forest fires scorching over 10000 acres in Northern California. Temperatures reached 100 or more as Decker Canyon and other blazes in Southern California were brought under control.
