Crosbyton Crash Victim Dies in South Plains Wrecks
A 69 year old Crosbyton resident, Andrew Martin Moore, died of head injuries after a head on crash 1.5 miles south of Crosbyton around 2 30 a m Saturday. Two other Crosbyton men, C A Langford and Leo White, were injured in the same incident. Moore is the 61st traffic fatality on the South Plains this year as more wrecks near Lubbock injure additional people on Saturday night.

Wat George a 33 year old Lubbock pilot walked away unscathed from a crash of his Piper J-5 Cub while dusting for Skyway Dusting company. He immediately returned to the air in a new mission after the smoke filled cockpit. Aubrey Thompson and M F Dagley assisted in the dusting run and observed George jump from the wreck then rejoin aviation activities a few minutes later.

Burglars Take Nearly $1000 From Littlefield Gin Safe
The Irwin gin in Littlefield suffered a nighttime burglary. A 330 pound safe containing close to $1,000 and important papers was stolen after a padlocked door was opened and relocked. Tracks indicate the safe was likely loaded onto a vehicle and driven northward. Leonard Irwin discovered the loss at about 9 p.m. after leaving the gin at 6 a.m. Sheriff Sia Hopping led the investigation with no clues or sign of the safe found by nightfall.

Train Plow Crashes Into Freight Car In New York
A young brakeman opened a main line switch before a Long Island passenger train crashed into a parked freight on a siding in Huntington New York. About 45 to 50 people were reported injured with three needing hospital care. Thunderclouds hung over the South Plains as light rains showers spread through the area on Saturday afternoon. A severe hail storm near McAdoo destroyed about 300 acres of young crops around 5 p.m. damaging farms of Bush Tipkin Coy Powers and T R Jones. Hailstones the size of marbles came with over an inch of rain in minutes while Ralls and Dickens reported the heaviest rainfall.

Tahoka Man Missing Prompted Wide Search
Tahoka resident Lou Ell Edward Holton, age 46, has been missing since July 29. A daylong air search from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. yielded no clues, and Sheriff Roland Clem said the search is discontinued though information on Holton's whereabouts is still sought. Joe Robinson of Tahoka reported no sign of Holton from his plane.
