Great Selling Drive Launched By United Press
The treasury launched the largest war bond selling drive since 1917 18 aiming to cajole tens of thousands of volunteers to obtain pledges from 50 million Americans to spend at least 6 percent of their pay on bonds. The campaign seeks 12 billion dollars in bonds for the fiscal year starting July 1 with monthly targets of 600 million for May and 800 million for June. If targets miss the mark officials hint at enforced savings as a possible alternative.
