Arthur Gaschler 53 of Denver began hiccuping on August 8 1961 and after 20 months remains unable to stop. He has seen 57 doctors and tried methods from cork chewing to paper bag breathing neck massage club soda and pineapple juice. He spent his $8000 savings on medical bills seeking a cure.
A 60 year old Yoakum County employee Curtis L. Schmitz of Seagraves died after a pickup and an oil well service truck collided seven miles northwest of here in Yoakum County at 12 15 p m He was pronounced dead on arrival at Seagraves Hospital Clinic.
President Kennedy will make his June Italy trip a business visit and delay Rome state visit until next year so Jacqueline Kennedy can accompany him. The First Family plans a West German and Italian tour this summer due to the expected birth of their third child. Jacqueline Kennedy cancels Rome plans and may also visit Ireland in New Ross, County Wexford. The report notes no firm additional stops and cites possible Ireland travel.
An 18 year old Levelland military school student died after a rented two seat Taylorcraft crashed south of Levelland airport during a landing attempt. Scattered thundershowers moved through northeast Texas with gusty winds and dust in the western region. A tornado alert covered north central Texas including Dallas Fort Worth, though the storm activity eased. Highs around 50s to 90s with dry conditions in some areas and rain sparse in Dallas for April.
Nelle Haught, a Texas Tech sophomore, was named Lubbock 1983 Community Ambassador and will spend six weeks in Spain with other ambassadors. Alternate finalist William C Dennis Fresman named. Japanese student will host in Lubbock this summer. Other finalists included Jerry Gipson and Mary Lynn Meckroy.
